We are collecting expressions of interest for the following areas to connect with the QAS Para Unit and Sporting Organisations.
- Referee/ Official/ Umpire: A Referee/ Official/ Umpire enforces the rules of a sport to ensure fair and safe competition.
- Volunteer: A volunteer gives their time to support athletes, officials, and event operations in sport.
- Guide: A guide participates in races/ training via a tether and assists an athlete with a visual impairment by providing direction, pacing, and support during a sport event - Guides are eligible to win Paralympic medals.
1. Privacy statement
The Department of Tourism and Sport (the Department) represented by the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) manages personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). The QAS is collecting your personal information (in this collection notice ‘personal information’ includes the personal information of the parent/carer/guardian and of the child participant) in this form, including in the questionnaire for the purposes of:
the assessment of your personal information to share with sports and QAS Para Unit.
In addition to being provided to the Department and QAS employees and contractors, your personal information may be disclosed to relevant commercial partners and sponsors, State and National Level Sporting Organisations, Coaches, Australian Institute of Sport and appropriate QAS contracted service providers for Para Unit, for the purposes of informing sport suitability and generating a contact list for future communication. The report provided to the QAS which will contain your personal information will be used by the QAS and shared with the relevant State and National Level Sporting Organisations as necessary.
The email address you provide as part of the registration process will be used by the QAS and/or appropriate QAS contracted service providers in relation to QAS Para Unit to communicate with you. Your email address may be used by QAS and/or disclosed by the QAS to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and/or the Australian Institute of Sport for the purposes of notifying you of events and initiatives relating to QAS Para Unit both now and in the future. Personal information will not be disclosed to any other third parties without the consent of the person/s to whom the personal information relates (or a parent/carer/guardian where it relates to a child), unless authorised or required to do so by law or you provide your express consent (see below).
